LAS ANOD, Somalia, Nov. 1 (UPI) — A remote-controlled bomb Sunday killed five military officers in northern Somalia, authorities said.
The soldiers were in a truck in the center of Las Anod in the Sol region when the bomb detonated, Shabelle Media Network reported.
A military division commander was among the dead and several other soldiers and civilians were wounded and hospitalized, witnesses told Shabelle.
The huge blast — heard throughout the area — also hit a second military truck but no casualties were reported, witnesses said.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the blast.
